If you have ever been to California and seen a stand full of brochures of things to do, one of those things that pops out is Hearst Castle. The creator William Randolph Hearst was heir to the fortune of his father George Hearst who literally struck it rich during the gold rush of California in the 1800’s. William spent his younger life touring the world with his mother and he developed a taste for fine art, sculptures, and tapestries. William grew up to be one of the richest men in the United States, and was the media mogul of his day. He owned vast amounts of newspapers, and periodicals as well as a fortune in land and real estate. One of his creations Casa Grande now named Hearst Castle is a California State owned park which William donated upon his death. Visitors and tourists can purchase a ticket to the home and enjoy the day in a guided tour. You’ll find Hearst’s Castle to be a wonderful stop for a history lesson and a chance to see some of the best art work from all over the world. You can visit Hearst Castle at 750 Hearst Castle Rd, San Simeon, CA 93452.
